EGEA and IAAS invite you to apply to train the next generation of Trainers at our joint Training New Trainers 2024. There will be a team of 5 trainers, including 2 junior trainer spots: one for IAAS and one for EGEA. More info about the requirements and application can be found below.

The Train-New-Trainers will enable 20 participants with skills relevant to a trainer in EGEA and IAAS and will be held in English. Participants will learn the basics of training design on the basis of experiential learning and practice their newly gained skills. To support the development of our participants, the TNT aims to cover topics such as facilitation, communication and feedback, group dynamics, training design and delivery (online & residential) as well as utilizing the latest knowledge of cognitive psychology and neuroscience to design brain-friendly and engaging learning experiences. Some online follow-up sessions are preferred for the online competencies and to reduce the pressure on the residential par. The EGEA Training Team and IAAS Training Committee happily support the Trainers team in planning and organising these online follow-up sessions.

Thanks to your training experience, you have insight into what young trainers need to learn and you convey this with motivation and enthusiasm. You are willing to learn and grow yourself as a trainer and want to share this with a new generation.

Ideally you have delivered a TNT online and/or offline and have experience delivering in English offline and online. You are flexible and consider the different levels of your participants, providing a challenging and engaging learning environment for all. You support the Training Team Coordinator(s)in preparing the program, the sessions at the TNT, and the online preparation and follow-up sessions. As the TNT takes place in February, you are available in December and January to prepare for the TNT as well as until the beginning of March for follow-up of the event. There is room for 1 Junior Trainer from EGEA and 1 Junior Trainer from IAAS. From Junior Trainers we expect great motivation, enthusiasm, and insight into what a young trainer needs to learn, and how young trainers can be supported and motivated in (the start of) their career.

To summarise, your tasks will be:

  • Attend regular trainers meetings before the training session
  • Selecting participants of the TNT, in accordance with the open atmosphere that is valued.
  • Support the Training team coordinators in designing and preparing the TNT program
  • Prepare the sessions together with your co-trainers before the start of the event
  • Deliver training session with your co-trainer(s) on training-related topics
  • Prepare handouts of your training session as part of the follow up on

There is room for 1 Junior Trainer from EGEA and 1 Junior Trainer from IAAS. Junior Trainers are an integral part of the TNT Trainers Team. They also contribute in designing and delivering the sessions, but receive an extra focus on their personal development. From Junior Trainers we expect great motivation, enthusiasm, and insight into what a young trainer needs to learn, and how young trainers can be supported and motivated at (the start of) their career.

In short, we expect Junior Trainers to:

  • Attend regular trainers meetings before the training session
  • Selecting participants of the TNT, in accordance with the open atmosphere that is valued.
  • Support the Training team coordinators in designing and preparing the TNT program
  • Prepare the sessions together with your co-trainers before the start of the event
  • Deliver training session with your co-trainer(s) on training-related topics
  • Prepare handouts of your training session as part of the follow-up on
  • Focus on the perspective of supporting your trainers at the beginning of their training journey
