GREEN is the best!
EGEA Green started as a Project Group at the GA 2013 in Wasilkow, Poland, getting upgraded to a Committee at the GA 2015 in Someren, the Netherlands.
Who are we?
We are a group of motivated EGEAns from different entities around Europe, who want to improve the environmental behavior of our association – during the events as well as in everyday life of the members. We try to achieve this goal through discussions as well as by establishing and intensively working on projects. EGEA Green gives you many opportunities to express and pursue your own ideas.
Current representatives of the Committee:
Monika Gričnik (EGEA Ljubljana) and Katharina Roche (EGEA Augsburg)
What are we doing?
“EGEA Green focuses on raising the ecological awareness within the Association. Therefore EGEA Green established the EGEA Green Book. This work of reference consists of a list of guidelines to encourage a more ecological behaviour. Entities and event-organisers can receive a label of recognition by EGEA Green on the basis of the proposed guidelines.
The aim of the committee is to promote to all EGEA event-organisers to take into account the guidelines and encourage to fulfill them in the best possible way. Besides the EGEA Green Book the Committee will try to establish and maintain relationships with partner associations or other resources to develop the most recent know-how on ecological management of an NGO and respective events. The ultimate goal of the Committee is to spread the philosophy on an individual level; transcending the ‚borders‘ of EGEA as an association and by doing so creating a broader ecological insight for the young scientists and citizens of the Earth.”
(EGEA Association Protocol APPENDIX D 2016, page 3)
Our aim is to raise environmental awareness and help entities, events and individuals minimize their ecological footprint. As a young committee, we are very flexible with the ways to accomplish that. It is important that every member can contribute to the content and that projects are formulated as a result of a team effort.
