EGEA Zadar has been around since 2006 and operates locally in the area of the University of Zadar. Nestled by the beautiful Adriatic Sea, we truly put the “med” in euromed. When you visit, you can look forward to swimming and lounging on the beach. And yes, we promise to take you to at least one of the 300 islands in our archipelago for an unforgettable adventure.
The entire Zadar region is rich with some of the most exquisite scenery one could hope to find, with no less than five national parks and three nature parks in the immediate vicinity.
University of Zadar
The University of Zadar is a public university located in Zadar, Croatia. The university in its present form was founded in 2002, but can trace its lineage to 1396, thus making it the oldest higher education institution in Croatia, and one of the oldest in Europe.

Founded in 1994, the department has actively contributed to scientific projects related to the marine and maritime environment, focusing on island development and coastal processes. Current research is centered on hydrological dynamics at the land-sea interface, particularly examining the impact of drought and sea level rise on coastal aquifers and freshwater sources.
The Department of Geography – deals with both physical and social aspects of geography (demography, agricultural geography, geomorphology, hydrogeography, littoralization, etc.), covering coastal and insular Croatia with solid GIS implementation.

Since 2017, HGD Zadar has actively participated in the celebration of the International Night of Geography (GeoNight), an initiative launched by the French National Geographic Committee, in collaboration with EGEA Zadar. Additionally, the society regularly organizes public lectures on various geographical and related topics, aimed at engaging professors, teachers, students, pupils and the wider public, promoting geographical awareness and education.
The Croatian Geographical Society – Zadar was founded in 1989 as part of the former Union of Geographical Societies of Croatia. Due to the war, it officially began its activities in 1995 as part of the Croatian Geographical Society based in Zagreb. Since the academic year 1995/1996, representatives from the association have regularly participated in the annual meetings of the HGD in Zagreb. Starting from the first issue of the journal Geoadria, an annual report on the activities of HGD Zadar has been consistently published.

As a non-partisan, independent and apolitical organization, it represents the undergraduate and graduate students of the University of Zadar within the higher education system.
