EGEA Berlin
ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
EGEA Berlin is a local entity of the European Geography Association (EGEA), a network of young geographers that is represented in around 75 cities in over 30 countries. We want to bring students together and educate them in a respectful atmosphere. In doing so, we want to create a better future: Europe should stand for friendship, understanding, diversity and sustainability. To realise this vision, we offer numerous exchanges, activities and events organised by students for students.
WHAT WE OFFER
As EGEA Berlin, we regularly organise exchanges with other cities (entities) and local activities such as scientific excursions or leisure activities. In addition, as a member of EGEA Berlin, you can take part in Europe-wide events. These include, for example, congresses with workshops, excursions and exciting evening programmes. As EGEA is a non-profit association, everything is either free or very affordable. This makes EGEA a great opportunity to get to know new people and cultures.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
We share all important information in our WhatsApp community. You want to join? Then simply send us a short message on Instagram @egea_berlin or an email to berlin@egea.eu! On Instagram, you can also find some impressions of our exchanges, activities and events.
Start of the semester: A great way to get started at EGEA Berlin are our Newbie Event and our two Newbie Exchanges (see below). These will enable you to better understand the concept behind EGEA.

NEWBIE EVENT
🕙 7 November
📍 Café Erdreich (TU Berlin)
There will be a short presentation in which we will introduce EGEA and clarify any open questions. Afterwards, the atmosphere will be like a bar with music and cosy seating, drinking games and maybe even a dance floor. Drinks will be available at student-friendly prices.
NEWBIE EXCHANGE | EGEA WARSAW
↪️ 21 to 24 November in Warsaw
↩️ 5 to 8 December in Berlin
A total of 10 people can take part in a four-day exchange with EGEA Warsaw! We will soon publish more information on how you can participate and who the contact person for the exchange is.

We are currently in contact with other EGEA entities to organise a second Newbie Exchange. Stay tuned!
HOW IT WORKS: LOCAL ACTIVITIES
We will organise a local activity at least once a month. This includes scientific excursions such as guided tours through Berlin neighbourhoods or nearby nature reserves. However, this also includes leisure activities such as bar evenings or picnics. We always announce these local activities via our WhatsApp community and anyone can participate without registering or paying a fee (we only pass on the costs if we have to buy tickets or similar).
HOW IT WORKS: EXCHANGES
We organise exchanges between different cities (entities). If you visit another entity, you will stay with one of its members. In addition, the programme including activities and food is organised by them. When the other entity comes to Berlin, the roles are reversed. This makes EGEA exchanges a cost-effective way to get to know other cities, people and cultures.

HOW IT WORKS: EUROPE-WIDE EVENTS
Other entities regularly organise events that last several days and include workshops, excursions, leisure activities and much more.
Unlike our local activities and exchanges, you have to register for these events via the official website. You also have to pay a participation fee. The fee includes accommodation, meals and programme. We are a non-profit organisation and everything is organised by students for students, i.e. we do not make a profit. Basically, you have to create an account first. As soon as this account has been confirmed, you can click on ‘RSVP here’ for the respective event and use it to register. You will receive all further information by e-mail after the registration deadline.
