Scientific Presentation on severe convective storm

Category:Teams & Projects

Dear EGEAns,

We are thrilled to invite you to a presentation held by our future colleague in EGEA, Andrei Elias Călugăru, on the topic of severe convective storms. Andrei is an 11th grade student at the “Ștefan cel Mare” National College from Târgu-Neamt, Romania. He is very passionate about geography, generally, but especially about meteorology and climatology, with a focus on the severe convective storms. He participated in many webinars and competitions in the field of geography, such as “The unleashed nature – What are the convective storms and what can we do to mitigate their effects”, or “Severe meteorological phenomena through the eyes of a future expert”, during the event “The European Researchers Night”, in 2020.

The topic of the presentation will be severe convective storms – formation, dynamics, and effects on our daily life. In the context of climate change, we should expect an exponential growth in the frequency and intensity of convective storms. For example, last year we saw the most powerful tornado of this century, with an intensity which equals an EF4 tornado, in the Czech Republic. So, before we begin to mitigate the effects of these convective storms, we should know the formation and dynamics of these powerful phenomena. If you’re really interested in supercells or tornadoes formation, you can get in touch at science@egea.eu!

Hope to see you all on Thursday, 2nd of June at 19:00CET!

You can join the Zoom Meeting through the following link:https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83400369570…
