CroWeek 2025 (BALKANIJADA 14.0)

Balkanijada (CroWeek) is a congress organized by the entities in the former Yugoslavia. EGEA Zagreb organizes this year’s Balkanijada on the topic “Rural tourism as a factor of spatial development”.

Below you will find our suggestions for the various means of transport to and from the event venue.

Around the accommodation there will be plenty of space for parking. Keep in mind that it is more convenient if several passengers share one car. Also, unlike some other countries, Croatian highways do not use a vignette system. Instead, you pay a toll fee, which is calculated based on the distance traveled between toll stations and the vehicle category.

Traveling by bus is also an option. First, you need to get to Čakovec, the best connection is from Zagreb (tickets are available via the FlixBus application or on the official website. You can also take a FlixBus to Čakovec from several other European cities. Once you get to Čakovec, take the local bus to Vučetinec (see the timetable). From there, it’s just a short walk to the accommodation.

There is a train station in Čakovec, but keep in mind that there is no direct line from Zagreb, which is still the best connection to the Međimurje region. This means you will need to change trains in another city (or cities), depending on the connection and schedule you choose. Once you arrive in Čakovec, take the local bus to Vučetinec (see the timetable).

If you are arriving by plane, the nearest airport is in Zagreb. From there, you will need to take a bus or train to Čakovec, and then a local bus to Vučetinec. Keep in mind that the airport is located outside the city, so you first need to take either city bus line 290 (which stops at Kvaternikov trg) or the Pleso Prijevoz shuttle (which goes directly to the main bus station) to reach the city center.
