What to expect

After a one-year break, we’re excited to announce: Wine & Shine is back! For its third edition, we’re bringing you the “Camping Edition.” So, grab your camping gear and hiking shoes and join us for a long weekend near the French border in the Palatinate Forest, Germany’s largest continuous forest area.

Got no plans at the end of June or need a break from university life? Come celebrate the start of summer with us! We’ll be camping together, spending evenings around the campfire, and hiking through the stunning Buntsandstein rock formations of the Palatinate Forest.

This year’s edition of Wine & Shine embraces a Roman theme – because not only the city of our entity, Mainz, was historically strongly influenced by the Romans. And of course, we also want to stay true to our event’s name by getting to know the viticulture of the nearby Palatinate wine region with you.

How to get there

We recommend traveling by train. Use the Deutsche Bahn website / app to find connections and book tickets. Take the train to “Pirmasens Hbf”.

From there, there are bus connections to Lemberg, which runs at least hourly, e.g. line 250 (Get off at “Ortsmitte, Lemberg”) or 256 (Get off at “Kindergarten, Lemberg”). You can also use the Deutsche Bahn app to check the bus connections and buy tickets (Just not together with the train on one ticket. You must buy the bus ticket separately)

Once you arrive, it’s less than a 1 km walk to the campsite.

You come from further away? Use long-distance routes such as EuroVelo to get to the general region.

If you are in the region and want to continue to Pirmasens and Lemberg, I recommend OpenStreetMap-based maps (such as WaymarkedTrails) and routing websites (such as cycle.travel or bikerouter.de)

Registration

To register for the event, use the RSVP button below. Registration will open on 17.03.2025 14:00 CET until 13.04.2025 23:59 CEST, there will be about 30 participant spots. Registration does not mean participation. If you get a spot, further details will follow.

This year’s Wine & Shine will take place as a “Camping Edition”. You will receive a packing list and will also be given the possibilty to share tents with other people, but you must be aware of this: To be able to participate, you need bring items like an own tent (which you can of course share with other people), sleeping mat and sleeping bag.
