SUMMARY:Wissenschaft und Wein
DESCRIPTION:We are planning a day trip to the beautiful Ahrtal\, a hilly wine region to the south of Bonn. First\, our volunteer students will hold lectures to the themes of social meeting places in the area\, the remembrance culture of the flood in 2021 and disaster management implemented in the aftermath. Then we will explore an important cultural element of the Ahrtal: wine!We will hike through the valley of the Ahrtal discussing the lectures to gain some professional insights\, but also not forgetting our special cultural aspect. \n\n\n\nWe will meet on Sunday\, June 8\, 2025 (exact times will follow) either at Bonn Central Station or directly in Ahrweiler. Sleeping places in Bonn for our external entities will be organised internally.

SUMMARY:The Green Frontier: A Ride along the River
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\n\n\n\nFollowing the spirit of adventure that defines EGEA\, we are excited to introduce our next unforgettable journey: The Green Frontier: A Ride along the River. This four-day cycling expedition will take participants along the Polish-German border\, tracing the scenic paths of the Oder and Neisse rivers. \n\n\n\nThroughout the journey\, we will visit historical sites\, charming cross-border towns\, and natural wonders. From crossing historic bridges to riding through picturesque riverside trails\, every turn of the road will reveal something new. \n\n\n\nWe hope to learn something interesting about the history of Lusatia and Silesia during this trip. We plan to visit three museums. During breaks from biking and sightseeing\, we will sit in the June sunshine looking at the languidly flowing river. \n\n\n\nSo\, get ready to pedal through time\, cross borders\, and embrace the beauty of the Lusatia and Silesia regions! 🚴‍♂️🌿 \n\n\n\nAttractions\n\n\n\nGörlitz & Zgorzelec \n\n\n\n\nHistoric old town\n\n\n\nSilesian museum in Gorlitz\n\n\n\n\nBad Muskau & Mużaków \n\n\n\n\nMuskau Park\n\n\n\nMuskau palace\n\n\n\n\nMuskau Arch \n\n\n\nGerman-Polish UNESCO Global Geopark \n\n\n\nForst \n\n\n\n\nWatertower\n\n\n\nRose garden\n\n\n\nSankt Nikolai Church\n\n\n\nFactory ruins\n\n\n\n\nGuben & Gubin \n\n\n\n\nCity and Industry Museum Guben\n\n\n\n\nEisenhüttenstadt \n\n\n\n\nMuseum Utopia and Everyday Life\n\n\n\nUrban planning of a model socialist city\n\n\n\n\nFrankfurt (Oder) & Słubice \n\n\n\nAdditionally: \n\n\n\n\nEasternmost point of Germany\n\n\n\nCountless beautiful views of the Oder and Neisse rivers\n\n\n\nLots of lakes\n\n\n\nBeautiful forests\n\n\n\nFamous Rakotz Bridge and Kromlauer Park\n\n\n\nLots of small charming towns like Rothenburg and Przewóz\n\n\n\nLots of places with a past – an old brickyard\, power plant ruins and more\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat do you need to know?\n\n\n\nPossible route: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStart: Görlitz Central station \n\n\n\nFinish: Frankfurt (Oder) Central station \n\n\n\n\nNight at Pension – Zum alten Gasthaus Hänsel (Podroscher Str. 8\, 02957 Krauschwitz\, Germany)\n\n\n\nNight at Camp Keune (Am Sandberg 6\, 03149 Forst (Lausitz)\, Germany)\n\n\n\nNight at LAT Hotel & Apartmenthaus Berlin GmbH (Beeskower Str. 114\, 15890 Eisenhüttenstadt\, Germany)\n\n\n\n\nA map with marked accommodations and some of the attractions can be found at this link:  \n\n\n\nhttps://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1g4ZYgZEFsWKklEL2mQqzPvpIhADX7V4&usp=sharing \n\n\n\nWe will travel between 30 and 60 km per day. \n\n\n\nWhat do you need to take? \n\n\n\n-This is a bicycle tour so of course you need a bicycle. We don’t know exactly what conditions to expect on the spot\, but from a preliminary inspection it looks like we’ll be traveling on segregated bike paths and roads with relatively low traffic. It’s worthwhile\, however\, that you take a bicycle that is designed for more difficult than urban conditions. A gravel or mountain bike would be best. If you have doubts about whether your bike can handle it\, email us.  \n\n\n\n-During the tour we will cross the internal border of the European Union several times. You need a document that entitles you to stay in Germany as well as in Poland. In the case of EU citizens\, this is an ID card. Germany has recently introduced random border controls\, but we do not anticipate that this will be a problem for us. \n\n\n\n-In the accommodation “Camp Keune” (2. night)  we will not have beds available. For this one night\, you need to take a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat with you. \n\n\n\n-The tour will be taking place in June. Take into account that it may rain! When packing\, take rainproof clothes with you.(And something against mosquitoes)  \n\n\n\nHow many of us will be there? \n\n\n\nWe currently anticipate that the tour will include 10 people\, including two people organizing the event. \n\n\n\nWhat are we going to eat? \n\n\n\nGood question. We assume improvisation. We will stock up individually before and during the trip. This will be an ideal opportunity to test German and Polish bread culture in practice! \n\n\n\nWhat are the characteristics of our accommodation? \n\n\n\nThe first night will be held in a guesthouse – 3 rooms at our disposal. The second will be held in a “barn” with sanitary facilities (kitchen and bathroom). The third night will be held in a hotel in the city – 3 rooms at our disposal (unfortunately\, we were not able to find more interesting options in the area that would be free at that time). Please take into account that there may be double beds in these places. In all the places mentioned you will be able to leave your bicycles safely. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nHow the Fee is calculated: \n\n\n\n67€ Accommodations \n\n\n\n14€ Museums \n\n\n\n8€ Buffer if something goes wrong \n\n\n\n*Price might change (cheaper) \n\n\n\n**The price will not include food \n\n\n\n*** The buffer will be paid back after the event. \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nPlease fill out the following form and sign up via the RSVP button for a successful registration. Incomplete registrations are invalid! \n\n\n\nThe registration will end on 20.04.2025 at 23:59 \n\n\n\nif you have any question\, please message us via mail: katowice@egea.eu \n\n\n\nif you miss this deadline\, please message us via mail: katowice@egea.eu \n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdlWcUhw0AZA2g856vBmK9q_f70uK_qW0tHURBMvrBJC6yUBA/viewform

SUMMARY:Wine & Shine Vol. 3: Camping Edition
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\nOrganised by EGEA Mainz. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, write us an e-mail (mainz@egea.eu) or on Instagram. \n\n\n\nMail\n\nInstagram\n\n\n\n\nWhat to expect\n\n\n\nAfter a one-year break\, we’re excited to announce: Wine & Shine is back! For its third edition\, we’re bringing you the “Camping Edition.” So\, grab your camping gear and hiking shoes and join us for a long weekend near the French border in the Palatinate Forest\, Germany’s largest continuous forest area. \n\n\n\nGot no plans at the end of June or need a break from university life? Come celebrate the start of summer with us! We’ll be camping together\, spending evenings around the campfire\, and hiking through the stunning Buntsandstein rock formations of the Palatinate Forest. \n\n\n\nThis year’s edition of Wine & Shine embraces a Roman theme – because not only the city of our entity\, Mainz\, was historically strongly influenced by the Romans. And of course\, we also want to stay true to our event’s name by getting to know the viticulture of the nearby Palatinate wine region with you. \n\n\n\nStay tuned\, we’re looking forward to seeing you! \n\n\n\nThe campsite and the surroundings\n\n\n\nPhotos: sv-lemberg.de \n\n\n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to get there\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrain/Bus\nWe recommend traveling by train. Use the Deutsche Bahn website / app to find connections and book tickets. Take the train to “Pirmasens Hbf”. \n\n\n\nFrom there\, there are bus connections to Lemberg\, which runs at least hourly\, e.g. line 250 (Get off at “Ortsmitte\, Lemberg”) or 256 (Get off at “Kindergarten\, Lemberg”). You can also use the Deutsche Bahn app to check the bus connections and buy tickets (Just not together with the train on one ticket. You must buy the bus ticket separately) \n\n\n\nOnce you arrive\, it’s less than a 1 km walk to the campsite. \n\n\n\nIf you need any further help\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\n\nCar/Carpooling\nTry to drive together with others. We offer a carpooling table so that you can find or offer rides. \n\n\n\nIf you need any further help\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\n\nBike\nYou come from further away? Use long-distance routes such as EuroVelo to get to the general region. \n\n\n\nIf you are in the region and want to continue to Pirmasens and Lemberg\, I recommend OpenStreetMap-based maps (such as WaymarkedTrails) and routing websites (such as cycle.travel or bikerouter.de) \n\n\n\nOtherwise\, you can find a map (in German) with regional cycle routes here (external link; PDF). \n\n\n\nIf you need any further help\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsors\n\n\n\nVolksbank Darmstadt Mainz\n\n\n\nWe would like to thank all sponsors for their contribution to making the event possible. \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nTo register for the event\, use the RSVP button below. Registration will open on 17.03.2025 14:00 CET until 13.04.2025 23:59 CEST\, there will be about 30 participant spots. Registration does not mean participation. If you get a spot\, further details will follow. \n\n\n\nRegistration is currently closed. The first participant emails have been sent out – check your email inbox! \n\n\n\n\nThis year’s Wine & Shine will take place as a “Camping Edition”. You will receive a packing list and will also be given the possibilty to share tents with other people\, but you must be aware of this: To be able to participate\, you need bring items like an own tent (which you can of course share with other people)\, sleeping mat and sleeping bag.
