SUMMARY:Baltic Weekend 2024: latvian edition
DESCRIPTION:Baltic Weekend is upon us once more! Come enjoy the mythical country of Latvia with the utmost Latvian experts – Estonians! \n\n\n\nLatvia isn’t completely uncharted territory for EGEA. Once upon a time there used to be EGEA Riga\, but ever since their disintegration\, there hasn’t been any EGEA events in Latvia. We have taken it upon ourselves to solve this obvious mishap and we have made it our goal to bring Latvia closer to Europe. Baltic Weekend will take place in Latvia for the first time since 2013. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect from this event? Local food\, local drinks\, local sauna\, local fauna. We will make sure to introduce you to the local scenery\, the exact destination for the excursion is yet to be specified. All participants will have an exclusive opportunity to take part in the “I must learn the inner workings of a Latvian or I will perish” workshop. Join us in celebrating Livonian evening in commemoration of the 106th anniversary of the dissolution of the Governorate of Livonia. \n\n\n\nWhen\, where and how much? \n\n\n\n\n\nOur accommodation will be located in the vicinity of Smiltene\, 127 km from Riga or 131 km from Tartu. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe number of participants is limited to 20\, participants will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Registration to the event takes place through the RSVP below. Registration ends on 30th April at 23:59. Further information about the event will be provided directly to participants. SUMMARY:Lower Saxony Campathon
DESCRIPTION:Gather your camping gear and tents as we prepare to immerse ourselves in nature’s embrace. Conveniently reachable via public transport\, our campsite offers the perfect escape from the hustle and stress of city life \n\n\n\nExperience the first ever: \n\n\n\nLower Saxony Campathon \n\n\n\nfrom August 8th to 11th 2024 \n\n\n\nwhere adventure awaits amidst the picturesque landscapes of Lower Saxony. \n\n\n\nWith around 35 participants expected to join\, this event promises an unforgettable outdoor experience. \n\n\n\nPARTICIPANT FEE: 55€ (excluded drinks) \n\n\n\nSpecial offers: \n\n\n\n\nwe are offering participating for Ukrainians for just 27\,50€\n\n\n\n\n\nparticipants that have to travel a long distance\, can arrive 1-2 todays earlier\, and enjoy Hannover in its summerprime. Please inform us beforehand (using the participants form)\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to get there\nThe campsite is easy to reach even if it is rather remote by Central European standards. It is not directly next to a railway station or a motorway. However\, it is reasonably accessible via main roads and bus connections.  \n\n\n\nThe nearest railway station is Nienburg(Weser). Regional and S-Bahn trains stop there every hour. There are also some long-distance trains. If you are travelling by regional train\, a Germany ticket is probably worthwhile. The DB app is the best way to plan your train journey. From there\, you can take the number 60 bus to the Landesbergen\, Kraftwerk bus stop. The bus journey takes about 30 minutes.  From there it is about 25 minutes on foot to the accommodation. Your luggage will be transported from the bus stop to our accommodation.  \n\n\n\n\nhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.hafas.android.db\n\n\n\n\nTravelling by bike is easily possible. The campsite is close to the Weser cycle path\, which is one of the most popular cycle routes in Germany. Further information is available here: https://www.weserradweg-info.de/ (Unfortunately only in German) \n\n\n\nThe nearest long-distance bus stop is Hanover. It is very well connected both nationally and internationally. From there\, you have to continue your journey by train and bus. \n\n\n\nYou can find more information about the connection and the Hanover bus station at: https://www.hannover-zob.de/ \n\n\n\nThe accommodation is easy to reach by car. The address is “In den Büschen; 31628 Landesbergen” The journey by car is mainly via main roads and country roads. However\, the last 200 meters are unpaved roads. However\, this can be mastered without any problems by standard vehicles travelling slowly. If you are travelling by car\, we recommend carpooling to save on fuel and travel costs. \n\n\n\nThe nearest airports are Hanover (HAJ) and Bremen (BRE). They have many national and international connections. They are about 2-3 hours away from the accommodation by train and bus. Hamburg (HAM)\, which is around 4 hours away\, has an even larger selection of flights.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccommodation & Surroundings \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExcursions & Trainings\nExcursions: \n\n\n\nMonastery Loccum \n\n\n\nThis excursion takes us to Loccum Abbey. It was founded in the early Middle Ages and even though it is no longer inhabited by monks\, a large part of its historical building fabric has been preserved. We will be given a guided tour of the monastery\, where we will learn all the important information about it and its surroundings. Afterwards\, we will take a walk through the neighbouring natural monastery forest. In this recreational area\, which is very popular with locals\, we will walk past the monastery’s historic and beautiful fish ponds and a small castle ruin\, among other things. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRauzwi Archaeology Middle Weser \n\n\n\nThis excursion will include two very interesting aspects of remembrance research. First\, we are going to have a guided tour of an archaeological site\, specifically a burial ground from the 4th to the 9th century B.C.\, along with later discovered remains of a settlement from the 8th or 9th century A.D. The second part of this excursion will be a guided and interactive tour through the open-air museum\, which includes a pit house and a post store. Aspects of remembrance culture\, perhaps from earlier times than you have encountered in your studies\, will be the focus of this wonderful excursion. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPeatlands of lower saxony – MoorIZ (Peat information center) \n\n\n\nJoin us for an unforgettable adventure through the peatlands of lower saxony and experience the beauty and complexity of these vital ecosystems firsthand. We will visit the peat information center which provides an in-depth look at the formation of peat\, biodiversity\, its use by humans and the environmental significance of peatlands. We will also gain insights into the conversation efforts and the challenges facing peatland preservation. Afterwards the will have an expert- guided tour through the Otternhagener Moor and experience this unique landscape with its wildlife by ourselves. This excursion is perfect for physical geographers\, soil enjoyers and nature enthusiasts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSkill sessions: \n\n\n\nSelf love \n\n\n\nHi my name is Sina and with this skill session you could be a part of a journey that will effect your future. We are going to look past the surface\, without focusing on what’s wrong and rather pay attention to your strengths and what right. \n\n\n\nArt with Lotta \n\n\n\nIn this skill session I’ll teach you playfully the basics of art\, the basic structures every hobby painter and every professional artist is using on a daily basis. Tag along! \n\n\n\nKarate/ mobility session \n\n\n\nDepending on the group we will either focus more on Defense Training and how to fall without breaking bones or some exercises that help reduce back pain and increase mobility. In both cases you should wear sport clothes.

SUMMARY:Karstic Weekend '24
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Karstic Weekend ’24\, an EGEA Zadar event in Croatia’s captivating Velebit karst region where mountains meet the sea! Join us to explore this unique land—caves\, dolines and much more. Dive into nature’s mysteries\, from forests to the magic of coastal karst\, all amidst the embrace of Croatia’s stunning geography! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\nHostel Čelina\n\nHostel Čelina“An oasis on the coastal side of Velebit“\n\n\n\n\nNestled along the coastal side of Velebit\, you’ll find the charming Hostel Čelina\, a hub of warmth and hospitality year-round\, managed by Božena Radošević and her mother Marija\, with the helping hands of their two teenage daughters during school breaks. Every detail of this accommodation is carefully crafted\, from the thoughtfully designed interiors to the eco-friendly materials used throughout\, creating a serene oasis where guests can feel at home. The ever-changing weather\, with its sudden shifts and dramatic Velebit storms\, adds a touch of excitement to the experience\, reminding us of nature’s power and endless variety.Perched nearly 700 meters above sea level\, the air here is refreshingly pure\, offering a cool retreat from the summer heat\, while the sparkling sea lies just a brief 10-minute journey away. It’s a blend of climates and temperatures\, where guests can slumber peacefully amidst the gentle slopes of Velebit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBaške Oštarije\nBaške Oštarije is one of the rare settlements in the peak area of Velebit. It is located by the road Gospić-Karlobag\, at the border of the Central and Southern Velebit.Once upon a time there was a Venetian merchant caravan on this important Velebit passage and the place became known as the Oštarije. The name Oštarije comes from the Romance languages (tal. osteria – tavern). They are situated at 924 meters above sea level and are surrounded by beautiful Dabri and Dabar peaks. Dabar not only a name for beaver in Croatia (there are none here)\, but also for the special Velebit valleys with the flat bottom. The village was established following the construction of Karolina Road. The Military Frontier Management encouraged settlement near the road in Oštarijsko polje field to support travelers and those involved in transportation. Houses were provided by the Military Frontier Management\, allowing settlers to cultivate cleared land for farming and livestock. Increased trade between the continent and coastal areas eventually attracted more residents to the village. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nNP Paklenica\nThe Paklenica karst river canyon is a national park in Croatia. Due to its unique natural features\, magnificent forests\, and extraordinary geomorphologic structures\, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was proclaimed a national park in 1949. The main reason for proclaiming this area a national park was the protection of the largest and best-preserved forest complex in the territory of Dalmatia\, which was threatened by overexploitation. The Paklenica National Park covers an area of 95 km2 and includes the highest peaks of the Velebit Mountain – Vaganski vrh (1752 m a.s.l.) and Sveto brdo (1753 m a.s.l.).The name Paklenica probably derives from Black Pine sap called “paklina”\, which the locals used in traditional medicine\, for wound treatment\, for light\, and for coating wooden boats (but it also sounds like “hellish” – “pakleno” lol). It covers the area of torrent flows of Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica\, and their distinctive canyons carved vertically into the southern slopes of the Velebit Mountain as well as their surrounding area. The relatively small area has an abundance of geomorphological phenomena and forms\, diverse flora and fauna\, attractive landscapes and intact nature. Near the entrance to the Velika Paklenica is an artificial tunnel complex built for Josip Broz Tito during the tension between Yugoslavia and the USSR in the late 1940s and early 1950s (that’s the real important info haha\, but tbh we might have have a presentation in here). \n\n\n\n\n\n\nCaves\nWe will have the opportunity to show you two wonderful caves as well:Modrič Cave\, located in the town of Rovanjska\, offers a journey into an underground world. Stretching 829 meters\, this natural wonder provides an authentic experience without concrete paths and bright lights. You can see stunning formations\, including stalactites\, stalagmites\, and unique speleo themes resembling jellyfish and more. With its spacious chambers and consistent temperature of 16-17°C\, Modrič Cave promises an unforgettable adventure. \n\n\n\n Modrič cave (Croatia) by Geospatial Analysis Laboratory Zadar on Sketchfab \n\n\n\nNestled within Paklenica National Park\, Manita Peć is the other cave on our karst advnture. As the only show cave open to the public\, it has captivated visitors since 1937. It has incredible expansive chambers adorned with exquisite speleothems\, including stalagmites\, stalactites\, columns\, and flowstones. Each formation\, such as the Helmet\, the Organ\, and the Witch\, tells a fascinating story of natural beauty and wonder. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAMME\n\n\n\nPrepare to delve into the captivating world of karstology and related sciences! Upon arrival in Gospić\, we’ll explore Nikola Tesla’s early life in the nearby village of Smiljan. Our journey begins with a lecture on karst by our wonderful professor from the University of Zadar’s Geography Department. The following day\, a karst researcher will lead us on an exciting expedition to Modrič cave and Paklenica National Park\, promising a delightful mix of caves\, rivers\, and stunning landscapes! \n\n\n\nExpect an engaging scientific theme throughout Saturday with workshops facilitated by our enthusiastic geographers and karst scientists\, covering topics like GIS and Karst research. Meanwhile\, another exciting excursion near our accommodation awaits\, featuring the breathtaking Premužić Path. And fear not\, our weekend won’t be solely about science! We’ll sprinkle in some classic EGEA fun and Croatian adventures for an unforgettable experience! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW TO GET TO GOSPIĆ\n\n\n\nTo get to Gospić from Zagreb and Zadar\, here’s a breakdown of transportation options: \n\n\n\n\nBy Bus:\nFrom Zagreb: \n\n\n\n\nBus Operators: FlixBus\, Velebit Tours\, Samoborček\, Arriva Croatia\n\n\n\nFlixBus operates buses to Gospić three times a day\, with tickets costing between €17 – €24. SUMMARY:EGEA Train Orient Express Edition
DESCRIPTION:*Dates might change slightly \n\n\n\nAbout the Event\n\n\n\nThere have been many events in the last few years since the pandemic came to a halt. The  vast majority of them were centered around traveling to a certain place\, spending a few nights in an accommodation and enjoying a program tailored around the location the event was taking place at.  \n\n\n\nHeavily inspired by Events like the Trans-Siberian Railway or TTT we thought about a new kind of Venture unlike the Weekends and Congresses everybody got used to. The idea  to travel across Europe meeting new people has always been a core value of EGEA and the “Orient Express” will be a new approach to boost it even further.  \n\n\n\nFollowing the steps of Agatha Christies famous novel we plan on taking you on a long journey starting from the splendour of Budapest to the vast city of Bucharest\, the illustrious bulgarian capital and all the way to the burstling city of Istanbul. It will be the first EGEA event to cross over to another continent. \n\n\n\nThe passengers of the EGEA train will have to opportunity to learn about the culture\, history and cuisine of four different countries in one single trip. For every city we created a small program to make the most out of your stay there. But that does not mean that passengers cant bring in their own ideas on what to see and do. \n\n\n\nTo make this event unforgettable\, were in need of unforgettable people. To make sure that you will be one of them\, we created an anonymous application process focused on the qualities our passengers should bring on a trip like this. \n\n\n\nThe participant fee covers all trains taken from Budapest to Istabul\, the accomodations in every city plus program expenses (Museums or Monuments). Everything else needs to be paid by the participants themseves\, so make sure plan in some money for food and souvenirs. \n\n\n\nPossible Route \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPArticipant fee\n\n\n\n299 € \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nPlease fill out the following docs and sign up via the RSVP button for a succesfull registration. Incomplete registrations are invalid! \n\n\n\nEdit: The registration endet already on 01.05.2025 if you`re still interestead please message us via mail: unbound@egea.eu \n\n\n\nhttps://forms.gle/Zbmt7QrjJUKhcKwo9 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n
