For a long time we were hopeful that the Covid situation will allow us to organise this event\, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. As of now\, the number of cases in Belgium are reaching record highs again\, and the government has put on restrictions on social life (nightclock on bars\, no parties\, restrictions on event organisation\, …). Therefore\,  there is little chance that our event would get a green light. Even without the restrictions\, we realise that the rising cases would cause problems for many Egeans who travel from far away. The orgateam of EGEA Leuven & co. wishes you best of New Year celebrations no matter where you will be! Your ticket is valid a whole day\, so you don’t need to reserve a specific train at a certain hour\, and prices stay the same (so no need to reserve a few days ahead).  \n\n\n\nYou can find your connections on the website of NMBS. For international tickets\, the website of Deutsche Bahn proves better (cheaper) usually\, when coming through Germany. Don’t forget to use the DB-link from EGEA to book\, so EGEA gets a commission! \n\n\n\nTicket-wise\, for within Belgium\, you can buy your ticket on the website\, in the app\, at the ticket machine or at the counter (but the lines are usually quite long). \n\n\n\nThere are quite some ticket options:  \n\n\n\nYouth ticket (-26 year old) – 6\,60 euro’s  and goes between any 2 stations in Belgiumfrom Zaventem Airport you might need to buy an extra ticket covering the airport feeYouth multi (-26 year old) – 53 euro’s (55 at the machine)\, is 10 “Youth tickets”\, valid for 1 year\, can be shared amongst multiple people.from Zaventem Airport you might need to buy an extra ticket covering the airport feeYouth holidays (-26) – 18 euro’s for unlimited travel for 1 week (only available during school holidays\, for Christmas this is 25/12-9/01)Standard ticket – price depends on the distance (from Zaventem Airport\, this automatically includes the airport fee)Standard multi (+26 year old) – 83 euro’s\, 10 single trips between any 2 Belgian train stations\, valid for 1 year\, can be shared amongst multiple peopleWeekend ticket – price depends on the distance; only valid between friday evening 19.00 and sunday 00:00; about half the price of standard ticketBorder ticket – depends on distance and border station. Available from Aachen\, Roosendaal\, Lille\, Maastricht\, Luxemburg\, Maubeuge and Aulnoye-Aymeries. Cheaper for -26\, but can be cheapest in combination with Youth ticket or Youth multi (starting from the first border station on the Belgian side).Ticket on the train: if you don’t buy your ticket in advance\, you can also buy it on the train\, but this costs 7 euro on top of the normal price! \n\n\n\n\nBy bus\nBy busThere is a Flixbus stop at the train station in Leuven\, but most good connections go to Brussel North or Antwerpen. Don’t forget to use the Flixbus link of EGEA to book\, EGEA gets a commission from this! Blablacar also has more and more good bus connections.  \n\n\n\nFor local busses in Flanders\, you can check for connections through the website of de De Lijn\, or Google Maps shows them pretty decently too actually. The closest bus stop is called Bekkevoort Oude Tiensebaan\, and you can get there from Leuven or Diest with line 370.  \n\n\n\nFor tickets\, you can use the app\, buy them through text message ( text “DL” to 4884)\, or you can buy it at a newspaper store or De Lijn shop (in bigger stations\, like Leuven). You can find the full overview of all available tickets and where to buy them on the website.  \n\n\n\nDue to COVID\, you are not allowed to get in on the front of the bus!  \n\n\n\n\nBy car\nFind the address of the venue above\, type it into your GPS\, Waze\, Google Maps\, … and drive safe 😉 There is parking space available at the venue. If you don’t have a car\, you can also try to find a ride through Blablacar.  \n\n\n\nCarpooling is recommended\, cause it’s fun and sustainable! 😀 Feel free to use the comment section or Facebook event to look for travel buddies! \n\n\n\n\nBy plane\nFor some of you\, a train or bus might not be feasible options\, so for this case\, Belgium has the airport of Charleroi (also called Brussels South)\, and the airport of Zaventem (also called Brussels Airport).From the airport of Charleroi you can find shuttle busses to the train station of Charleroi and take a train from there\, or shuttle busses to Brussel-Midi train station and continue from there. For more info on the train schedule and tickets\, look above.From Zaventem airport\, you have a train station directly at your disposal (just follow the arrows in the airport)\, but you need to buy a train ticket with an additional airport tax.
