SUMMARY:Polish Weekend 2023
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPolish Weekend is an event arranged by polish entities in their own country. It is an opportunity for geography students and experts from various countries to take part in a broad range of activities such as workshops\, lectures\, discussions\, cultural events and social gatherings. The primary goal of the Polish Weekend is to promote geographical education\, while providing a chance for participants to connect\, collaborate and learn from one another. \n\n\n\nThe event offers a broad range of geography-related topics and includes both theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. In summary\, the EGEA Polish Weekend is an ideal opportunity for geography enthusiasts to broaden their knowledge\, network with peers and explore the local culture. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBASIC INFO\n\nWORKSHOPS & TRAINIGS\n\nPROGRAM\n\nTRAVEL DETAILS\n\nORGATEAM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow Expensive is polish weekend?\n\n\n\n\n\nAN EVENT BY: EGEA WARSAW\, EGEA KRAKÓW\, EGEA OLSZTYN\, EGEA WROCŁAW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere?\n\n\n\nPolish Weekend 2023 is taking place in Bęsia. It is located near Lake Bęskie. The resort has its own beach\, bikes and water sports equipment rental\, football fields and volleyball courts. Also\, let’s not forget about fireplaces and lots of areas to relax! \n\n\n\nWe hope that we all can see each other in beautiful Masuria soon! \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOśrodek Wczasowy BĘSIA\, Bęsia 21\, 11-311 Kolno \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshops & LEADERS\n\n\n\n\nSlavic Culture and Tourism in Masuria\nSTANISŁAW KONIECZNY\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nIf you have an artsy soul and are more aware of beauty and tradition\, then you have to choose this workshop! Connecting local traditions with modern tourism may be a great chance for the development of this region\, and you can be a part of it! In the theoretical part\, participants would get acquainted with the most important traditions of Slavs\, especially those related to the region where the event will take place. Customs and their impact on the current cultural landscape of Masuria will be presented. Then the participants in the practical part would focus on the possibilities of promoting Masurian culture in modern tourism. Their task would be to develop an idea for a regional product/event that would refer to the Slavic tradition. The outcome of this workshop will also be sent to local authorities as our contribution to the local community. During the practical part participants will come up with four scenarios of how this type of farming can develop in this region. Ready scenarios will be sent to local authorities\, as our contribution to the local community. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe impact of the Pleistocene Glaciations on the Natural Environment of Masuria\nKLAUDIA KURPIOS\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nThe Masurian region is known not only for its lakes\, but also for its interesting\, very varied terrain. If you want to find out how the glaciers period shaped its area and what happened to it because of them\, or if you are a big fan of geomorphology\, “The impact of glaciers on the natural environment of the Masurian region” workshop is for you. During the presentation there will be a short introduction to the topic\, when we’re gonna talk about basic terms\, and then we will discuss glaciers themselves\, what landforms they brought and what is happening with them nowadays. The practical part will contain a short trip around our accommodation to see how it looks in this area\, we’ll do some measurements\, and after that we will try to draw maps of it. \n\n\n\n\n\nReal Estate Management in Poland and Geodesy in Practice\nWIKTORIA RYCZKO\, EGEA OLSZTYN \n\n\n\n\nThe goal of this workshop is to introduce concepts in the field of geodesy and real estate management in Poland. During the presentation\, we will discuss legal issues related to real estate management and present the operation of geodetic equipment. In the practical part of the workshop\, everyone will have a chance to work with professional surveying equipment and practical tasks. We will also answer the question of what geodesy is and what concept is hidden under it. We will show that geodesy can be very interesting and not boring at all! \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout that ArcGIS\nKRZYSZTOF FILIPKOWSKI\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nAre you into cartography and GIS? Want to learn something useful and much needed on today’s labor market? If you answered yes at least for one of those questions this workshop is for you! The workshop “Applying ArcGIS in Practice” aims to showcase the capabilities of the software to help capture\, analyze\, and present spatial data using tools built into the ArcGIS Online cloud to choose from: Preparing for Data Acquisition in ArcGIS Collector Present data in ArcGIS Web AppBuilder and configure web applications Preparation and publication of presentations in Story Maps Be aware that you need your own laptop with ArcGIS Desktop installed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTRAININGS & LEADERS\n\n\n\n\nPhotography\nAMELIA BARTNICKA\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nDuring the training\, we will learn the basic information and parameters regarding photography. What affects the appearance of our photo? Next\, we will use in practice various ways that will make the photos taken with your phone more interesting and aesthetic! If you’ve seen tutorials on Tik Tok or Instagram on how to improve your photos\, after this training you won’t need them anymore! Training is the perfect opportunity for all the EGEAns who want their travel reports to be the best they can be. \n\n\n\n\n\nProcrastination\, no thanks!\nKAMIL PUCEK\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nA topic as old as the hills\, but this slogan entered the mainstream around 2017. Many of us simply call it laziness. In this day and age of ‘productivity’ we are exposed to a lot of pressure from our surroundings and the content coming at us primarily from the internet. The short training I am going to conduct will be a kind of knowledge pill addressing the issue of procrastination and\, above all an opportunity to learn some tools to change our own self-esteem – especially in the aspect of analysing our activities. \n\n\n\n\n\nBody movement\nZUZA PYSKATY\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nIf you love to dance or on the contrary – you stay away from densflor at parties – this is the perfect workout for you!! During the hour-long exercises\, practice to bring out all your abilities\, bad and good emotions and feel what your body is able to do during movement. The exercise you will be doing is for every level of movement skills\, so don’t wait\, just open up to new possibilities \n\n\n\n\n\nCatch your wood\nOLIWIA BUŁCZYŃSKA\, EGEA WARSAW \n\n\n\n\nDo you want to spend time creatively and make your own souvenir of the trip? Then the training \, “catch your wood” will be perfect for you! During the class we will make our own souvenirs out of wood: painting on it and pasting with patterns from napkins (decoupage). We will burn the inscriptions of your choice on each work to make it as personalized as possible! In addition\, everyone will be able to choose whether they want their wood to be in the form of a magnet or perhaps to hang on the wall. During the training\, I will tell you about how interesting material wood is and how you can creatively use it and even make money from it! Remember this is a training for everyone regardless of skill! The only thing you need to take with you the willingness to do something fun and new! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEVENT PROGRAM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ntransport options & 1st day info\n\n\n\n\nAccommodation details & Opening Ceremony:\nOśrodek Wczasowy BĘSIABęsia 21\, 11-311 KolnoPoland \n\n\n\nOPENING CEREMONY\n\n\n\nUniversity of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn15 Romana Prawocheńskiego St.\, 10-724 Olsztyn\, Poland \n\n\n\nTo get to the location of the opening ceremony from the train station or city center you can choose public transport: bus 103\, 109 or tram. \n\n\n\nWe will start with a quick tour of the beautiful UWM campus at 10 am\, which includes a lake\, beaches and parks. Then the registration will start at 10:30 am\, followed by the Opening Ceremony at 11 am. Then\, there will be time for your transportation to Bęsia. \n\n\n\n*THE TRANSPORT FROM OLSZTYN TO BĘSIA IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PARTICIPANTS FEE AND SHOULD BE ARRANGED ON YOUR OWN. A train ride from Olsztyn to Bęsia usually takes less than 40 minutes and and costs around 15PLN. \n\n\n\n\nHow to get to Olsztyn by train?\nHere is the website of Polish Railways (PKP) – https://rozklad-pkp.pl/en. You can buy your tickets with a 51% discount if you have a valid Student Card from a Polish University or you have Polish citizenship and have the ISIC (website of ISIC –  https://www.isic.org). \n\n\n\nTickets for national connections are available only 1 month before the date of your journey (so if you want to buy tickets for the 2th of June you can buy them only after the 2th of May). Tickets for international connections can be bought way earlier (even now). \n\n\n\nYou can travel to Olsztyn from every bigger city in Poland (Warsaw\, Kraków\, Poznań\, Wrocław\, and Gdańsk). It takes between 2 to 4 hours to get there from Warsaw\, Gdańsk\, and Poznań) or 6 – 7 hours from Kraków and Wrocław. \n\n\n\nFrom every city\, you can travel the day before or on the day of the congress (9th of May). Most of the trains arrive in Olsztyn between 9 am and 15 pm. \n\n\n\n\nHow to get to Olsztyn by bus?\nFlixbus arrives at Olsztyn only around 9 pm\, so if you want to travel with Flixbus you will have to arrive there the day before (8th of May). It is line 1221 and you can travel with it from Kraków or Warsaw (also straight from WAW and WMI airport). \n\n\n\nYou can also travel by Polonus from Warsaw to Olsztyn. It leaves at 10:10 am from West Station in Warsaw and arrives at 2:40 pm in Olsztyn. \n\n\n\n\nHow to get to Olsztyn by car?\nYou can travel by bla bla car\, but remember that drivers often post their offers only 2 – 3 days before the ride. \n\n\n\nHere is a sheet that we created to ease ride-sharing between EGEAns! You can switch between sheets depending on whether you are offering or needing a car ride. \n\n\n\nCar sharing \n\n\n\nMost of the highways in Poland are for free\, so you don’t have to worry about paying for the ride. Here is the list of paid highways: \n\n\n\n\nA1 between Rusocin and Nowa Wieś (152 km)\n\n\n\nA2 between Konin and Stryków (99 km) and Konin and Świecko (255km)\n\n\n\nA4 between Kraków and Katowice (61 km) and Wrocław and Sośnica (160 km)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOUR ORGATEAM\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\njulia NEJMANI’m Julia! I like to organize things\, but other than that I love reading (22 books in this year so far). I want to win BDC during Polish Weekend\, as I didn’t manage to do it on ERC 2022. Pierogies with berries are a no for me. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMICHAŁ PURTAHeyo\, I’m Michał! I love to meet new people and look at the stars in the night. My favorite fruit is blueberry. I would never eat dumplings with pineapple and my worst fear is to die alone! 😀 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJENNIFER SADOWSKAHey! I’m Jenny and what I love most are travelling\, dogs and the beach. What got me into geography was probably my love for water. During PL Weekend I’d like to make sure everyone is having fun! You won’t catch me eating duplings with meat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nANIA NOZDERKAHey I’m Ania! This is my first time organizing an EGEA event and I’m so excited about it! In my free time\, I like to attend the theater both as a viewer and as an actor (I love musicals). As a geographer\, I’m most interested in issues related to regions. I’m the biggest onion hater\, so I don’t like dumplings with it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKAROLINA SENTYRZ-KOŁODZIEJHi! I’m Karolina and I’m from EGEA Kraków. In my free time I play with my 3 lovely dogs. In geography I love recognising clouds. During Pl Weekend I really would love to see die Fluteman again. I do not approve of dumplings with meat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMATEUSZ WÓJCIKHey! I’m Mateusz! Mostly I love cycling\, but also wouldn’t mind long walks&talks. In geography I’m keen on all the GIS stuff. During PL Weekend I want to learn how to make dumplings. Please don’t dare me to eat dumplings with groats. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTOMEK CUDAKIEWICZHey! My name is Tomek from EGEA Olsztyn. In my free time I eat as many chips as I can\, and besides that I love to swim\, dance and learn about cultural heritage. During Polish Weekend I wanna meet new ppl from all over the world (Poland lol). I would rather die than eat dumplings without filling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJUSTYNA ZYGADŁOHi there! I’m Justyna. In my free time\, I like to read books\, especially fantasy novels. In geography\, I am passionate about studying different cultures and landscapes\, as well as discovering interesting places around the world and expanding my knowledge in GIS. At PolishWeekend\, I want to meet even more great people\, especially those who\, like me\, don’t like pierogi with meat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ne-mail\n\n\n\nFB\n\n\n\nIG

SUMMARY:Karstic Weekend '23
DESCRIPTION:An event by EGEA Ljubljana organized in the heart of the Slovene karstic region surrounded by the forested Dinaric mountains. Participants will discover this unique area of Slovene geography and all of its characteristics\, from caves\, poljes\, dolines\, its history\, settlement\, bears\, forests and everything inbetween with the help of karst researchers and experts in the field. \n\n\n\nApplications have closed but keep a close eye on our Instagram page for any updates and possible last minute spots! \n\n\n\nLOCATION\n\n\n\nThe event will take place in the village of Nova Štifta\, 10 min away from the town of Ribnica located about an hour south of Ljubljana by train. The area is famous for its centuries old woodenware tradition and\, of course\, for its karstic plateaus\, poljes\, dolines\, rivers and forests\, which hide populations of all three of the large carnivores living in Slovenia – wolves\, bears and lynx! Participants will be staying in a monastery right next to one of the most important pilgrimage churches of the area\, perched on a little hill overlooking the karstic Ribnica polje and on the edge of the forested Dinaric mountains. The event will start in Ribnica\, which can easily be reached by train and bus from Ljubljana; the rest of the transport until our goodbyes in Ribnica on Sunday will be taken care off by us and is already included in the participation fee! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAMME\n\n\n\nWe will work together with institutions and societies connected to karst to give you an insight into this interesting and maybe lesser known field of geography and other connected sciences. After arriving to Ribnica and getting a feel for the local culture and geography\, we will organize an introductory lecture on all things karst given by one of the researchers from the Department of Geography of the University of Ljubljana. Next day\, a karst researcher from the Department will guide an excursion to the poljes of Clasiccal karst and the Križna cave. Stay tuned for more details\, but there will definitely be plenty of caves\, dolines\, poljes\, karstic rivers etc. involved! The scientific theme will continue on Saturday with workshops organized by even more geographers and other karst scientists on various topics (The management of large carnivores in the Dinarides\, Wind power production possibilities and limitations on karst\, others TBA)\, while there will be another half day excursion held in the vicinity of the accomodation in the afternoon. Of course the whole weekend won’t be just karst and science\, EGEA classics and plenty of Slovene experiences will also make an appearance! \n\n\n\n\nSome sights from the area which we will probably discover during the weekend 🙂 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW TO GET TO RIBNICA\n\n\n\nRibnica is easily reachable by public transport from Ljubljana\, while reaching it from other cities in Slovenia or Croatia without transfering in Ljubljana will be quite a challenge. Ljubljana is well connected to other European cities by frequent Flixbus connections\, nightrains and other international train connections (use the Deutsche Bahn website to find connections)\, while arriving by plane to Ljubljana airport might not be the cheapest option due to a lack of low cost carriers (consider Tarvisio\, Trieste or Zagreb instead if flying is a must). \n\n\n\n\nBY TRAIN\nRibnica is easily reachable by train\, since it lies on the trainline between Ljubljana and Kočevje\, which was completely renovated in the past years with brand new train stations. There are 11 trains a day from Ljubljana\, with most journeys requiring an easy transfer in the town of Grosuplje. You can check the timetable and buy tickets on the webpage of Slovene railways. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBY BUS\nThere are hourly buses to Ribnica leaving from the Main bus station in Ljubljana (often called Ljubljana AP on the bus timetables)\, right in front of the Main train station. You can use the website of the Ljubljana bus station to check for the bus timetables. Unfortunately you cannot check for journeys which require a transfer\, so if you are coming from Bled for instance\, you have to check separately for the connection first to Ljubljana AP and from there to Ribnica. The two main bus companies in this part of the country are Arriva and Nomago. The correct name of the bus station in Ribnica is Ribnica na Dolenjskem. \n\n\n\nMost buses to Ribnica are bound to Kočevje\, so look for signs to Kočevje and/or Ribnica on the bus station in Ljubljana. You can buy the ticket directly from the bus driver\, but beware\, it’s cash only and the bus drivers might not accept 50€ bills. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBY CAR\nIf you are travelling by car\, there is ample parking space available in the centre of Ribnica\, most of it free\, so finding a place to park before heading to the accommodation shouldn’t pose a problem. There is also a large parking lot next to the Rokodelski center if the parking spots in the centre will be taken. There is also enough parking space next to our accommodation in Nova Štifta\, where you can park after the opening ceremony in Ribnica. \n\n\n\n\n\nFor any questions regarding getting to the Karstic Weekend or tips for things to see in Slovenia before or after the event\, don’t hesitate to contact us on Instagram or write us on Whattsapp (+386 64 150 086).

SUMMARY:Newbie Weekend Belgium
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\n\n\n\nHello there! Do you want to get a taste of the wonderful EGEA life? Our Newbie Weekend in Watou\, in the Western part of Belgium\, is a great place to start! Here you can explore what typical EGEA activities have to offer\, such as: \n\n\n\n\nAn excursion – Nothing geographers like more than some good old field observations! In this case we’ll take you cycling through the fields along some old breweries.\n\n\n\nA workshop or training – Learning something to boost your science or soft skills in a fun way! The subject of our workshop still needs to be decided\, but we’re sure it will be interesting!\n\n\n\nA cultural fair – On this evening everybody brings some things to eat and drink from their home country\, and we explore the whole culinary experience of Europe in one room!\n\n\n\nA newbie area – Where we introduce you to each other and to the way EGEA works.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nParticipation fee\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccomodation & surroundings\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe weekend takes place in Watou\, a cosy little village near the border with France. (So to the French: C’est bien et proche\, nous serions très contents de vous accueillir!) The region is known for World War 1\, cycling and its many delicious beers (wink wink). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo get there\, you can take the train to Poperinge\, where we can provide a shuttle service to bring you to the accomodation. You can also reach the accomodation by car and bicycle\, it is near the center of the village. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nprogram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is only approximately and will probably change a little. \n\n\n\nExcursions:\n\n\n\nWe will probably go on a cycling excursion along some traditional breweries\, visit them and/or visit some World War 1 monuments. (More info will follow) \n\n\n\n\n\nSign me up!\n\n\n\nRSVP until 19th of Octobre via this link: https://forms.gle/CZ4vdcZkTWpEUVkk8 \n\n\n\n\nYour questions answered\n\n\n\nQ: How do I know if this is something for me?A: If you like meeting people and/or viewing geography from different stances and/or like travelling\, then this is definitely something for you! Every EGEA experience is different\, some people like certain aspects more than others and that’s totally okay\, because an EGEA event (like this one) has a lot of aspects to offer! Q: My English is not that good\, will I be able to fit in?A: The key to learning a language is practicing\, and most EGEAns don’t have English as a mother tongue\, so everybody will make an effort to understand you and be patient. Besides\, we’re sure your English is better than you think 😉Q: I have some information I need the orgateam to know\, how do I tell them?A: Some time after you register for the event\, we will sent a participant form for more information about you (eg. allergies\, if you want to sleep in a same-gender room\, …) so you can let us know there. We will also make a whatsapp chat for everybody. Otherwise feel free to contact our entities on Instagram or e-mail\, we’re happy to help!

SUMMARY:Bavarian Newbie Weekend 2024
DESCRIPTION:What to expect\n\n\n\nYour fourth option to choose from the newbie weekends 2024 brings together three Bavarian entities and is therefore named the BAVARIAN NEWBIE WEEKEND 2024! The entities of Bamberg\, Augsburg and Würzburg will introduce you to our glorious association (that’s what the G in EGEA stands for ;)) and will turn EGEA newbies into EGEA ultras! You will learn about the history and structure of EGEA\, our funniest traditions\, how to engage yourself in EGEA teams and institutions and most importantly – why EGEA is the greatest student’s organisation in the world! We are the smallest of all Newbie Weekends with only 19 attendees\, but that means you will only form even closer bonds in a cozy social environment. \n\n\n\nHome of the Event will be the historical city of Augsburg in the center of Europe. Augsburg is among the oldest cities in Germany and was home of Jakob Fugger. By some experts\, he is considered to be the wealthiest man of all time\, having erected a trading empire all over Europe in the beginning of the 16th century. He founded the Fuggerei\, the world’s oldest public housing complex still in use. Our scientific excursion will lead us into the the geologically unique impact crater of the Nördlinger Ries\, where we will have a closer look into the the medieval town of Nördlingen. Nördlingen is among the best preserved historical cities in Germany and surrounded entirely by a city wall\, on which you can walk one time around the town. From the city’s main church clock tower Daniel\, you can have a 360° view over the impact crater. \n\n\n\nIn the evening\, of course the most important EGEA tradition named cultural fair\, a geo quiz and a motto party are awaiting you. We are glad to welcome you in Augsburg! \n\n\n\nContact\n\n\n\nYou can reach our orga team officially via the e-mail address bavarianweekend@egea.eu. Please contact us for further information or in case the registration doesn’t work. We may still have some spots available! \n\n\n\nHow to get there\n\n\n\nThe address of the accomodation can be found below. \n\n\n\nPublic transport in Augsburg itself works quite well and you can use Google maps to navigate. The offical site of Augsburg public transport is https://www.avv-augsburg.de/. \n\n\n\nLocated in a central metropolitan area\, you can easily reach the accomoadtion by train\, what we definetely recommend. For booking\, you might use https://www.bahn.de/. \n\n\n\nFlixbus is a good possibility to reach Augsburg as well. If you book via the EGEA sponsors page\, EGEA gets a small benefit from it. Just use the following link and then select Flixbus! https://egea.eu/sponsors-partners/ \n\n\n\nWe also have a parking lot in the yard\, meaning that you can as well arrive in Augsburg by car. In that case\, we recommend to form car sharing groups. You can do so by just sending a quick message into our WhatsApp group which will be formed a few weeks before the event. \n\n\n\nIf you come from further away\, you might need to come to Augsburg by plane. The best airports available are Memmingen\, Nürnberg (Nuremberg) and München (Munich). \n\n\n\nThe accomodation\n\n\n\nOur accomodation is a youth house (Stadtjugendring Augsburg (sjr-a.de)) in Augsburg. We will provide for ourselves\, which means that the Orga Team will take over cooking. The house has space for a total amount of 25 guests of which 19 will be Newbies and 6 will be Orga team . You will sleep in two bedrooms\, one with 13 and one with 8 beds. Bed sheets are provided\, you will just have to bring towels for yourselves. The total costs of the event will be 60€\, beverages not included. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTimetable\nTownhall Square in Augsburg and official timetable\n\n\n\n\n\nSaint Moritz church in Augsburg\n\n\n\nThe Fuggerei in Augsburg\n\n\nA view over the Nördlinger Ries impact crater\n\n\nAerial view of the iconic townscape of Nördlingen\n\n\nOur accomodation

SUMMARY:Western Regional Congress 2025: Catan's Compass
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\n\n\n\nHello and welcome to the official web page of the Western Regional Congress 2025 hosted by EGEA Leuven and EGEA Brussels! \n\n\n\n\nThe strategic location of Flanders in Europe has resulted in the fact that it held the highest population in northwestern Europe for centuries. In Flanders a city is always in close proximity. This makes that people can live in the countryside and work in the city. This makes that the border between countryside and city becomes very fuzzy. Competition for land is very strong in Flanders\, and in the last 50 years the spatial planning was unsatisfactory. This caused that ribbon development was able to appear. Primarly in the Campine area this phenomenon is very common. Therefore\, it is very difficult to make efficient public transport and to connect natural areas. The negative consequences go however much futher than this. Flanders face many sustainable land use challenges. Protecting further hardening of the land will be key to maintain groundwater levels and prevent flooding\, but legislation is often blocked in the Belgian Parliament. \n\n\n\nJust like the boardgame Catan\, land use is important in the real life as well\, and the land uses of the past can have a great impact on the land use of the future. Together with our partners we\, the WRC 2025 Orga Team\, are happy to show European geographers what challenges keep Belgian geographers up at night. \n\n\n\n\nWhen is the wrc?\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganised by: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? Mail them to WRC2025@egea.eu or send us a chat on our instagram page \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\nLinkedIn\n\nMail\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here! The Registration deadline is 17/12/2024 at 23:59\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExcursions\n\n\n\n\n\n 🚢Excursion 1: Port of Antwerp and Antwerp city-centre\n\n\n\n\n\n 🧭Excursion 2: Abandoned Town of Doel & Geo-park Scheldedelta\n\n\n\n\n\n 🚲 Excursion 3: Hard Bike Excursion across the Campine Ridge\n\n\n\n\n\n 🏙️Excursion 4: Brussels Urban Development History and the Ferraris maps\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshops\n\n\n\n\nApply to become a workshop leader by filling in this forms: WORKSHOP OPEN CALL FORM. PROLONGED DEADLINE AS LONG AS THERE ARE WORKSHOP LEADERS NEEDED. Be fast if you want a fixed spot at the WRC! \n\n\n\n\nSome workshop ideas we had\, but we would love to hear your ideas for Workshops as well:\n\n\n\n\nA workshop learning how to use Python to model land use changes\n\n\n\nHow to interpret remote sensing data and how to produce land cover maps based on remote sensing data\n\n\n\nA workshop exploring the unique soil properties of Belgium\, learning about how sandy Belgian soils were modified in order to use them for agriculture\n\n\n\nA workshop about the risks of flooding and how to address these issues. The floods in 2021 in Wallonia were a good example of Belgium’s poor river management. Dike-building at the seaside could also be interesting\n\n\n\nA workshop about the urban planning or public transport challenges in Belgium because of it’s typical ribbon urban sprawl patterns\n\n\n\nA workshop about how historic maps can be used as a scientific data source\, especially the Belgian Ferrarismaps which are highly detailed land cover maps from the 18th century.\n\n\n\nA workshop about the local economic development\, especially local beers and fruits \n\n\n\nA workshop about regional rural development\, especially because of the LEADER+ program active in most Belgian rural areas. \n\n\n\n\nTraining/Skill session\n\n\n\n\nApply to become a Trainer/Skill session leader! This is a short training session for participants to follow to enhance certain life or organisational or other skills. If you would like to become a Trainer/ Skill session leader at the WRC you can register here via this forms: TRAINING/ SKILL SESSION LEADER REGISTRATION FORMS. PROLONGED DEADLINE AS LONG AS THERE ARE WORKSHOP LEADERS NEEDED. Be fast if you want a fixed spot at the WRC! \n\n\n\n\nLeisure excursion\n\n\n\n\nHike – Herentals: The Capital of the Campine region\nHerentalsExplore this lovely city which had a significant impact on the regional development of the Campine region. We will explore the historic city centre\, the Begijnhof\,the ‘lakenhal’ and a number of medieval churches. \n\n\n\n\nHike – Visit the regional landscape park Kleine & Grote Nete\nThe Regional Landscape ‘Kleine & Grote Nete” is the regional ecological management organisation in the Campine region. They have a wide array of experts and partners that work together to implement different constructive and sustainable projects. Their projects revolve around nurturing the region\, safeguarding and improving biodiversity and nature. They also have projects focusing on recreation\, leisure and heritage. This leisure excursion will walk through the regional landscape\, which our accomodation is part of\, and will show you a few of their amazing projects. \n\n\n\n\nEasy Bike – Goat farm and the gnome-forest\nOn this leisure excursion\, you’ll visit a nearby goat farm (yes normally you’ll be able to pet the goats). Afterwards\, you’ll go for a short hike in the gnome-forest! 🙂 \n\n\n\n\nMystery leisure excursion\nPlay\n\n\n\n\n\n. \n\n\n\n. \n\n\n\nAccomodation\n\n\n\nPreviously a munition depot of the Belgian army\, De Hoge Rielen has become one of the most famous youth centers in Belgium. Located in the heart of the Campine (Kempen) area\, in the middle of a forested area\, we’ll be bringing all-European vibrations to this quiet area. We have booked two buildings\, adding up to 105 spots for participants in addition to the Orga Team. The rooms are mostly for 4 persons. The bathrooms are located on the corridor. We look forward to giving you the awesome congress experience in this wonderful accomodation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n. \n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n. \n\n\n\nHow to get there\n\n\n\nTrainCar/CarpoolingBusCycling/HitchhikingPlane \n\nWhich station do I go to?\n\n\n\nThe quickest ways to get to Belgium are 1) Night trains: European NightJet goes from Prague and Berlin\, or from Venice and Innsbruck. ÖBB has a night train from Vienna and München to Brussels 2) During the day\, there are high speed trains arriving from all over Europe to Antwerp or Brussels. From both Antwerp and Brussels\, there are direct trains to Tielen. \n\n\n\nThe station of Tielen is located around 20 minutes walking from the accommodation. In Tielen there are not a lot of opportunities to buy food for lunch on monday noon so if you have the time\, you should do that in one of the bigger cities. \n\n\n\nWhat is the best train fare for me?\n\n\n\nIn Belgium train tickets do not change their price based on how much on beforehand you buy them. Always try to buy your train ticket before you get on the train. If you buy them in the train you have to pay an extra 7 euros. You can buy tickets via the NMBS/SNCB app quite easily. Otherwise you can always buy them in the blue vending machines in every train station. Below you have our recommendations. Do some math to find out which type of ticket is more advantageous for you. If you’re not sure\, you can always contact us through our instagram\, LinkedIn or via e-mail (wrc2025@egea.eu) and we’ll gladly help you! \n\n\n\nSolo traveller \n\n\n\n\nIf you are younger than 26 you should buy a Youth Ticket -26. This reduces the fare to €7\,50 euros per journey. This applies between every pair of Belgian (and Luxemburg) train stations. This also only applies for one specific route\, so if you want to do a city trip before going to the accommodation location\, be sure to check whether or not the city is on route to the accommodation. It does not matter if you take a Belgian or Dutch train on the Belgian territory. This ticket however DOES NOT apply to any high speed firms or night trains. With an ICE ticket you are also not allowed to get onto Eurostar or the other way around.\n\n\n\nIt’s important to note: The Youth Ticket -26 is NOT always the cheaper option. Be sure to check the standard fare because for short journeys this might actually be cheaper than €7.5\n\n\n\n\nGroups \n\n\n\n\nGroups are recommended to buy a Youth Multi\, which has 10 rides on it\, not connected to a name. This can be bought at a train station for 62 euro or you can buy it directly from the NMBS/SNCB app for €60. The paper version you will have to fill in with a pen. The app version can be activated in the NMBS/SNCB app (and has to be activated multiple times depending on how many you are travelling with).\n\n\n\nThe Orga Team is also going to do a city tour of Leuven on Friday afternoon after the WRC. For this the transportation costs are not included in the price of the WRC.\n\n\n\n\nDepending on your itinerary\, it can be much cheaper to buy a domestic ticket in one of the neighboring countries until the last stop before crossing the border into Belgium (for example Aachen/ Lille). When you get in the last stop\, it can be cheaper to buy a ticket for the short journey between the two border stops. Once in Belgium\, you can use the Youth Pass or Youth Multi to get from the border town all the way to Tielen with just one ticket. This ticket is difficult to find online\, therefore\, I would buy it at the blue vending machine of the Belgian train company (SNCB/NMBS) in the foreign station. \n\n\n\n\n\nCar\n\n\n\nIf you are visiting some cities in Belgium\, a Low Emission Zone might apply\, which means your car needs to be of a certain environmental standard. These LEZ are enforced in Ghent\, Antwerp and Brussels. You can check if your car is allowed here: There are park and rides on the city margins. \n\n\n\n\nGhent \n\nhttps://lez.stad.gent/en/flows/controleertoegang\n\n\n\n\n\nAntwerp\n\nhttps://lez.antwerpen.be/?taal=EN\n\n\n\n\n\nBrussels\n\nhttps://lez.brussels/mytax/en/\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCarpoolsheet\n\n\n\nIn order to promote more sustainable ways of travel\, we greatly encourage all participants coming by car with some seats left to register in the carpoolsheet. You can give your starting location and your route so people could be picked up along the way. This saves costs and is more sustainable then everyone driving alone. This is also a great way to meet people! The carpoolsheet will be communicated to the participants later on! \n\n\n\n\n\nBus\n\n\n\nThere are flixbus stations in Antwerp\, Brussels and Turnhout. From Turnhout it makes more sense to take a bus instead of train to the accomodation. Belgian buses cost around 2 euros. In Flanders\, you should buy tickets from DeLijn (yellow buses) \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nCycling\n\n\n\nBiking infrastructure is great in the Netherlands and Belgium so feel free to come by bike. You should bring a lock with you as well to safely store your bike during the WRC! \n\n\n\nHitchhiking\n\n\n\nHitchhiking is not common but can be done as well. Any clothes that show that you are a talkative youngster and sign that shows where you want to go will help to get you there in no time. \n\n\n\n\n\nPlane\n\n\n\nWhilst we do not support plane travel because of its high emissions\, we do understand that for some people it is quite unrealistic to make the journey to the WRC by train\, bus or car. Here are some tips to get to the accomodation quickly and cheaply. \n\n\n\nBrussels Airport-Zaventem (BE)\n\n\n\nIf you fly to Brussels Airport Zaventem\, you can take the train from Brussels Airport to Tielen with one change. Remember\, you have to pay an Airport Tax of 6 euros if you take the train from and to the airport. If you really don’t have any money and you want to be extra cheap\, you can walk or take the bus to another station. There you don’t have to pay an airport tax. The most convenient route is to just take the train from Brussel Airport. For more information about train fares\, check the train section \n\n\n\nEindhoven Airport (NL)\n\n\n\nThis airport is located close to Eindhoven in the Netherlands. They have plenty of cheap flights from airlines like WizzAir and Ryanair. From Eindhoven\, you can take the train from Eindhoven-Centraal to Breda\, then to Antwerp-Berchem and from there to Tielen. You can get your tickets from this site: https://www.b-europe.com/EN (don’t forget to change your age to get youth discount!) \n\n\n\nCharleroi Airport- Brussels South (BE)\n\n\n\nThis airport is NOT near Brussels at all\, but it does have more cheaper flights. You get to Tielen the quickest way by taking the shuttle bus from the airport straight to Brussels-South station. In Brussel you can take a direct train to Tielen. Note: Check in which train station you arrive with the shuttle bus and if you can get a direct train to Tielen from there. For more information about train fares\, check the train section.

SUMMARY:Wine & Shine Vol. 3: Camping Edition
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\nOrganised by EGEA Mainz. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, write us an e-mail (mainz@egea.eu) or on Instagram. \n\n\n\nMail\n\nInstagram\n\n\n\n\nWhat to expect\n\n\n\nAfter a one-year break\, we’re excited to announce: Wine & Shine is back! For its third edition\, we’re bringing you the “Camping Edition.” So\, grab your camping gear and hiking shoes and join us for a long weekend near the French border in the Palatinate Forest\, Germany’s largest continuous forest area. \n\n\n\nGot no plans at the end of June or need a break from university life? Come celebrate the start of summer with us! We’ll be camping together\, spending evenings around the campfire\, and hiking through the stunning Buntsandstein rock formations of the Palatinate Forest. \n\n\n\nThis year’s edition of Wine & Shine embraces a Roman theme – because not only the city of our entity\, Mainz\, was historically strongly influenced by the Romans. And of course\, we also want to stay true to our event’s name by getting to know the viticulture of the nearby Palatinate wine region with you. \n\n\n\nStay tuned\, we’re looking forward to seeing you! \n\n\n\nThe campsite and the surroundings\n\n\n\nPhotos: sv-lemberg.de \n\n\n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to get there\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrain/Bus\nWe recommend traveling by train. Use the Deutsche Bahn website / app to find connections and book tickets. Take the train to “Pirmasens Hbf”. \n\n\n\nFrom there\, there are bus connections to Lemberg\, which runs at least hourly\, e.g. line 250 (Get off at “Ortsmitte\, Lemberg”) or 256 (Get off at “Kindergarten\, Lemberg”). You can also use the Deutsche Bahn app to check the bus connections and buy tickets (Just not together with the train on one ticket. You must buy the bus ticket separately) \n\n\n\nOnce you arrive\, it’s less than a 1 km walk to the campsite. \n\n\n\nIf you need any further help\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\n\nCar/Carpooling\nTry to drive together with others. We offer a carpooling table so that you can find or offer rides. \n\n\n\nIf you need any further help\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\n\nBike\nYou come from further away? Use long-distance routes such as EuroVelo to get to the general region. \n\n\n\nIf you are in the region and want to continue to Pirmasens and Lemberg\, I recommend OpenStreetMap-based maps (such as WaymarkedTrails) and routing websites (such as cycle.travel or bikerouter.de) \n\n\n\nOtherwise\, you can find a map (in German) with regional cycle routes here (external link; PDF). \n\n\n\nIf you need any further help\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsors\n\n\n\nVolksbank Darmstadt Mainz\n\n\n\nWe would like to thank all sponsors for their contribution to making the event possible. \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nTo register for the event\, use the RSVP button below. SUMMARY:Baltic weekend'25: Swamp edition
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are excited to announce the return of the legendary Baltic Weekend in Lithuania! After last year’s twist with the Baltic Weekend in Latvia\, we are back with an even bigger surprise this year! \n\n\n\nFollowing the huge success of our swamp-related activities at NBRC 2024 (*cough cough* extreme hike and Shrek evening)\, we have decided to embrace this concept once again. This year\, we are once again including swamp hiking in our activities. \n\n\n\nOver the four days (!)\, we will have a swamp hike\, cultural activities\, and other events associated with Baltic Weekend. Our accommodation is located in the Molėtai municipality\, just 100 km from Vilnius. Molėtai is famous for its lakes\, forests\, and other beautiful elements of the natural landscape. \n\n\n\nThe event that you’ve all been waiting for is taking place at a homestead called Pas Juzi (55.3807927\, 25.3223197 ) — a charming countryside retreat surrounded by vast forests and open meadows. The property offers 26 sleeping places\, so you’d better grab your tickets quickly! It also features a large outdoor terrace with a fireplace\, a traditional wood-fired sauna\, and an outdoor hot tub\, all providing comfort and relaxation in a natural setting. With spacious indoor areas and plenty of outdoor space\, we are going to be hosting an unforgettable weekend full of connection\, good vibes\, and moments to remember. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHomestead “Pas Juzi”\, Bajorai\, Molėtai
