SUMMARY:Reality Check: a Journey through Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:Reality Check: A Journey Through Ukraine \n\n\n\nWe invite you to a unique journey that will reveal the reality of life in Ukraine beyond the headlines. This is not just a trip — it’s an opportunity to experience what it means to live through constant challenges. \n\n\n\nDuring the journey\, we will visit two cities — Lviv and Kyiv\, witness the aftermath of russian aggression\, see how volunteerism is developing\, and discover what drives Ukrainian youth today. \n\n\n\nThis journey will reshape your perception of Ukraine\, revealing its vivid contrasts: bravery\, resilience\, and the drive for freedom.  \n\n\n\n📆 November 5-9 \n\n\n\nMaximum number of participants: 15 \n\n\n\nJoin us in exploring Ukraine and experiencing its heart ❤️ \n\n\n\nPROGRAM \n\n\n\nDay 1: Lviv\, Story of the Past \n\n\n\nThe first day begins with an introduction to Lviv — a city rich in history. In addition to the most fascinating tourist spots\, we dive into places where history intertwines with present-day realities. You’ll visit sites of missile strikes\, a modular town housing internally displaced people who fled the war\, and together we’ll help weave camouflage nets for Ukrainian defenders. The day will conclude with an evening program in the city center. \n\n\n\nDay 2: Lviv\, Glimpse into the Future \n\n\n\nOn the second day\, you’ll get a glimpse into the future of a country rebuilding from destruction. A visit to the National Rehabilitation Center Unbroken will show how people are being helped back to life. You’ll also explore Urban Camp — this is a community center and housing for internally displaced families in Lviv. We’ll conclude with a reflection session over pizza\, followed by an evening program. Night transfer by train to Kyiv. \n\n\n\nDay 3: Kyiv\, The capital of steadfast \n\n\n\nIn the morning\, we will be greeted by the capital of Ukraine — Kyiv. Today\, we will have a city tour\, visit the revitalized space of Unit City\, and meet local residents whose homes were affected by missile strikes. After exploring cultural and historical points\, we’ll end the evening with a relaxed dinner and free time for reflection. \n\n\n\nDay 4: Bucha\, the scars of war \n\n\n\nToday we’ll travel to Bucha\, a town near Kyiv that endured russian occupation. There\, you’ll witness the scars of destruction and see how the town is rebuilding today. We’ll also take part in a volunteer initiative. The day will conclude with dinner and an evening program back in Kyiv\, offering a chance to relax and reflect. \n\n\n\nDay 5: Kyiv\, Hugs and Kisses \n\n\n\nOur final day in Kyiv\, a walk through interesting locations and saying goodbye to new meetings somewhere in Europe. \n\n\n\nAccomodation: \n\n\n\nThere will be 2 hostels\, where you’ll live (one in Lviv and one in Kyiv). Here\, some photos: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHostel in Lviv (photo 1)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHostel in Lviv (photo 2)\n\n\n\nHostel in Kyiv (photo 1)\n\n\n\nHostel isn Kyiv (photo 2)\n\n\n\nHow to get to us? \n\n\n\nYou can get to Ukraine by bus or by train (no planes!!!). DESCRIPTION:Introduction \n\n\n\nAfter the successful first two Hessian Weekends in 2020 and last year\, as well as the Bendelux Weekend in 2022 –We’ll invite you once more to the beautiful Edersee! If you don’t know anything about this lake and Hessia:Hessia is one of the 16 federal states of Germany and located in the center of the country. The Edersee is the second biggest reservoir\, and in the North of the state\, which is one of the most remote places in Germany. It is part of the Kellerwald National Park\, so there is a lot of nature and forests to explore! So join us to learn more about our distinct Hessian culture\, nature and food and our favorite drink: Apple Wine! \n\n\n\nThe event will take place on August 7th until August 10th at the Edersee Sports and Study Center of the Philipps-Universität Marburg. Since we are only 20 meters away from a lake you should definitely pack your swimming trunks and sunglasses! \n\n\n\nOrganisers\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to get to the Location \n\n\n\nBasically you have two options to arrive. Either you come by car to the above address of the Sport- und Studienheim Edersee of the Philipps-Universität Marburg. There will be enough parking spaces at the accommodation\, but we recommend you to do some carpooling (there will be an excel for this). The second possibility is to travel by train to the train station “Vöhl Herzhausen“. Be careful! It could be that you have to press a stop button on the train otherwise it might happen it won’t stop. From the train station you can have a nice hike to the accommodation (50min next to the lake) or order a “Bus-Taxi (AST)” \n\n\n\nShuttle transports are only offered in emergencies on the day of arrival. Waiting 30min for the bus is not an emergency ;). \n\n\n\nOf course you can also arrive by bike at the accommodation if you want to be very Eco friendly. \n\n\n\nIf you have further questions you can ask us in the Whatsapp group or write a mail to marburg@egea.eu \n\n\n\nParticipaNt Fee\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration \n\n\n\nRegistration is over now! We will soon inform erveryone if they got a spot. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nPictures of the Accommodation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExcursions \n\n\n\n\n\nGuided Tour through the “Kellerwald-Edersee” National Park (10-12km\, 5-6h) \n\n\n\nFor the excursion – last year’s hike around the lake was very popular and we’ll do it again! The tour starts at the car park “Strieder-Eiche” and walk from the Asel Bay to the “Katzenberg” (Cat Mountain). Where you will have a magnificent view of the Edersee. From there the path will get more narrow and harder to climb while we will continue your journey to the “Lindenberg”. The following path will be very overgrown\, and the “Edersee” only appears through the treetops just in a few places. Your last attraction point will be the “Hünselburg” with the remains of medieval ramparts.During the hike you will find a rare flora and a lot of different types of stones. At one point you will also see a landslide\, which will be avoided via a secured path. \n\n\n\nIf you’re looking for a more relaxing day\, there is a small amusement park nearby\, as well as the huge dame we’ll visit. \n\n\n\nAfter last years success of the Offenbach Night\, this year’s theme party will be called the “Frankfurt Night”\, pretty obvious\, right? Frankfurt is Hessian’s largest city and the financial capital of Germany. You can find the stock market\, as well as the European Central Bank. That means there are a lot of people in suits and dresses\, like proper High Society. But be careful: if you find yourself in Frankfurt\, stay away from the Central Station! \n\n\n\nMore pieces of information will come in the future. The plan might slightly change\, there could be different excursions or leisure activities – but we will keep you updated. \n\n\n\nLeisure Activities\n\n\n\nYoga \n\n\n\nDo you want to relax from the pressure of everyday life? Then our yoga leisure activity is the best way to help you. \n\n\n\nVolleyball / Soccer \n\n\n\nIf you want to play a match of beach volleyball or football\, register.
