SUMMARY:Kiel Week Event Vol. 5
DESCRIPTION:After four amazing Kiel Week Events (2014\, 2015\, 2016\, 2019) and a seven-year break\, it’s finally time to return. We’re thrilled to invite you back to Kiel for a very special weekend! \n\n\n\nKiel Week is much more than a sailing regatta. Since the late 19th century\, it has grown into one of the world’s largest sailing events and the biggest summer festival in Northern Europe. Every year\, several million visitors fill the city with international flair\, music\, maritime culture\, and a unique festival atmosphere right by the sea. \n\n\n\nWe would like to invite you to spend a weekend staying in our homes\, exploring Kiel together\, and experiencing the diverse programme of Kiel Week! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme\n\n\n\nWe will spend a lot of time at Kiel Week\, which will be at the heart of our program. Key highlights include the famous Tall Ships Parade and the Night Glow\, where illuminated hot air balloons light up the night sky. At the same time\, we want to keep things flexible and go with the flow: Perhaps spontaneously attending a concert\, visiting a ship\, or joining other activities we come across. There will also be free time for you to explore Kiel Week on your own. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA few impressions of the last Kiel Weeks (missing pictures of the partys): \n\n\n© LH Kiel / Bodo Quante© FH Kiel / Philipp Kellner© LH Kiel / Barbara Westendorf© FH Kiel / Anita Naninga© FH Kiel / Alexandra Brecht© FH Kiel / Philipp Kellner\n\n\nImportant: We will see the Tall Ships Parade (also visible in the pictures). However\, many official races take place further out at sea\, so we cannot see them. It will also be very\, very crowded. If you don’t feel comfortable in large crowds\, we recommend that you do not attend the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccomodation & Getting there\n\n\n\nFinding accommodation during Kiel Week is notoriously difficult\, but that won’t be an issue for us. You’ll be staying at our homes\, just like during the exchanges. It would be best if you plan to arrive in Kiel between 2 pm and 7 pm. \n\n\n\nKiel is located about 90 km north of Hamburg. Hamburg is easily accessible from across Europe by train or plane. From there\, Kiel can be reached conveniently by train. In addition\, Kiel is connected by ferry to Oslo (Norway)\, Gothenburg (Sweden)\, and Klaipėda (Lithuania). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nThe participation fee is 60 € and covers all activities\, public transport\, food\, and non-alcoholic drinks. If there is any budget remaining at the end of the event\, we will handle it transparently and decide together whether it should be refunded or reinvested into the programme. \n\n\n\nImportant: We can currently only host 9 people and have already received around 20 registrations. However\, if you happen to be free at short notice (in case someone drops out at the last minute) you can still register here and be added to the waiting list. Just click here: Register on Waiting List.

SUMMARY:Baltic Weekend 2026: 15th anniversary edition
DESCRIPTION:Organised by EGEA Tartu \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nFor its 15th anniversary\, Baltic Weekend is coming to Saaremaa! \n\n\n\nAfter four years\, Baltic Weekend is back in Estonia and this time we are going across the sea to Estonia’s biggest island Saaremaa. Far away from crowded cities\, Saaremaa is a land of windmills\, juniper trees and secret beaches. It’s also Estonia’s top summer destination! \n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT TO EXPECT? \n\n\n\nLocal food\, tasty drinks\, friendly people and of course – sauna! During your time in Saaremaa\, we will do our best to show you the breathtaking landscapes\, beautiful swimming spots and the old streets of the capital\, Kuressaare. In the evenings\, be ready for hours in the sauna and other cultural activities. \n\n\n\nLOCATION & ACCOMMODATION \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOur accommodation is located in Kipi village which lies 34 km from Kuressaare\, 258 km from Tallinn and 363 km from Tartu. We will stay in Kipi-Koovi Hiking Centre – a cozy countryside retreat in Western Saaremaa surrounded by sea\, pine forests and wild orchids. At low tide\, it is even possible to walk to small islands! \n\n\n\nWe will make use of the holiday home\, guest house with cozy suites\, as well as camping cabins. Find out more about our accommodation on their website. \n\n\n\n\nCamping cabin\n\n\n\nCamping cabin: Beds\n\n\n\nCamping cabin: Beds\n\n\n\nHoliday home\n\n\n\nHoliday home: Beds\n\n\n\nHoliday home: Festivity hall\n\n\n\nGuest house\n\n\n\nGuest house: Beds\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nHOW TO REACH THE ACCOMMODATION? \n\n\n\n🌱 We encourage you to choose green travel options to help minimise our carbon footprint! \n\n\n\nYou can reach Saaremaa either starting from Estonia (Tallinn\, Tartu or Pärnu)\, Finland (Helsinki) or Latvia (Riga). For more tips on travelling to Saaremaa\, learn more on the Visit Saaremaa website. \n\n\n\n🚌 Option 1: Arriving by bus \n\n\n\nIt is possible to reach the venue entirely by public transport. Direct long-distance buses run from Tallinn to Kuressaare several times daily. Optionally\, you can also start your bus journey to Kuressaare from Pärnu or Tartu. Schedule and tickets for the long-distance bus: Tpilet.ee \n\n\n\nThe journey includes a ferry crossing to Kuivastu harbour on Muhu island. Ferries run frequently throughout the day\, from early morning till late at night. We strongly recommend booking ferry tickets in advance as queues can become long on busy weekends and event periods. If you can’t buy a ticket online\, you can buy one at the ticket office at the port. Ferry schedule and tickets: Praamid.ee \n\n\n\nIn Kuressaare\, take a local bus to “Kipi” bus stop (buying the ticket in the bus). From the „Kipi“ stop\, the accommodation is a short walk away. Bus schedules: peatus.ee \n\n\n\n🚗 Option 2: Arriving by car \n\n\n\nIt is also possible to reach the accommodation by car. After driving to Virtsu harbour\, take the ferry to Kuivastu harbour on Muhu island (like in option 1). Drive from Kuivastu to Kipi-Koovi hiking centre\, first crossing the bridge connecting Muhu and Saaremaa island. \n\n\n\n✈️ Option 3: Flying to Saaremaa \n\n\n\nThere are also domestic flights between Tallinn and Kuressaare. With NyxAir\, there are two daily flights on weekdays to Kuressaare airport (morning and evening). Schedule and tickets: NyxAir \n\n\n\nAnother option would be to fly Helsinki-Kuressaare with Finnair. There is one flight in the evening a few times a week. Schedule and tickets: Finnair Estonia. \n\n\n\nKuressaare airport is 3 km from the town centre. You can get to the town centre by bus\, car or taxi\, or you can walk to the town centre. Bus no. 2 takes you from Kuressaare to the airport and vice versa.  \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nThe number of participants is limited to 30 and the fee is 75€ which covers accommodation\, food and activities. Registration starts on Friday\, 15th May at 10.00 am (CEST) and closes on Friday\, 29th of May at 23.59 (CEST). \n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAMME \n\n\n\nInformation on the programme of the event will follow. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, feel free to contact us at tartu@egea.eu.

These isles have sunbathed in Mediterranean seas during Pangea’s reign\, to later be moved and carved into the mosaic of morphologies you see today by fluvial and glacial processes. The fertile soils\, temperate conditions and abundant resources made the British Isles an attractive place to settle\, and generations of settlers and invaders have made their marks too. \n\n\n\nFrom tribal druidic Celts\, expansionist Romans\, opportunistic Pagan Anglo-Saxons and then the conquering Christian Normans\, all these cultures and societies mixed together with the unique landscapes to create some of the most famous myths and legends the UK has to offer; from Arthurian legend with Camelot and Merlin\, to Robin Hood and his band of Merry men\, to everyone’s favourite Loch Ness Monster\, Nessie. \n\n\n\nSo become part of the history\, explore these Wild Isles like those who have come before\, and let AC 2026 become part of this rich tapestry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nSayers Croft Outdoor Learning Centre is located at the foot of the Surrey Hills National Landscape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccommodation\n\n\n\n\nOur accommodation is a beautifully preserved piece of World War 2 evacuee history…\n\n\n\n…with it now being used as a modern day children’s residential camp.\n\n\n\nWith six spacious dormitories with common rooms\, 3 spacious fields with campfires…\n\n\n\n…GA/dance hall combo\, a refreshing swimming pool…\n\n\n\n…and with wonderful outdoor areas to relax and unwind.\n\n\n\nIt is an ideal location for Annual Congress 2026!\n\n\n\nNot to mention the various adventurous activities which can be facilitated right on site such as archery\, axe throwing\, high ropes\, climbing and catapult building!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshops\n\n\n\nThe scientific focus of the congress is built around three interconnected thematic pillars: Landscapes\, Lives and Legacies. \n\n\n\nThrough workshops and excursions\, the programme explores how physical landscapes have been shaped by geological and geomorphological processes\, and how human activity continues to transform them through land use\, conservation\, infrastructure and resource management. At the same time\, the congress addresses social and cultural dimensions of geography\, including education\, mobility\, agricultural practices and everyday life. A strong emphasis is placed on historical and long-term perspectives\, such as the evolution of settlements\, language\, and the lasting impacts of political and economic decisions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPublic transport\nBy Henrik Stein (EGEA Osnabrück) and Ricarda Arens-Fischer (EGEA Bonn). \n\n\n\n\nEnvironmental hope and youth perspectives in times of ecological crisis\nBy Krisztina Glück (EGEA Budapest). \n\n\n\n\nCulture\, history\, traditions and artifacts of Celtic people in Great Britain and Ireland\nBy Dariusz Ostrowski (EGEA Krakow) and Leon Stachucy (EGEA Krakow). \n\n\n\n\nBritpop\nBy Lotta Knorr (EGEA Hannover) and Paul Fürll (EGEA Mainz). \n\n\n\n\nUK’s current climate policy on its economic direction\nBy Adam Šimkovič (EGEA Prague) and Martin Zmelty (EGEA Ostrava). \n\n\n\n\nGeomorphological legends: Between narrative and geological reality\nBy Martyna Kazlauskaitė (EGEA Vilnius) and Lilija Bałulis (EGEA Vilnius). \n\n\n\n\nRooted in common ground\nBy Heini Huovinen (EGEA Joensuu) and Melissa Klimenko (EGEA Joensuu). \n\n\n\n\nLandscape character study\nBy Adrian Vodopija (EGEA Zagreb) and Peter Ule (EGEA Zagreb). \n\n\n\n\nReconstructing historical landscapes with AI\nBy Tobias Kisslinger (EGEA Berlin). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExcursion ideas\n\n\n\nEasy hike “Pitch Hill Walk”\n\n\n\n\n\nA gentle climb up Pitch Hill\, then a scenic return through Cranleigh. SUMMARY:Wild Weekend in Smerek
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to go off the grid? 🌲 \n\n\n\nEGEA Katowice and EGEA Bratislava want to invite you to a wild autumn weekend in the heart of the Bieszczady Mountains — a place where civilization slowly fades away and nature takes over. Located in the south-eastern edge of Poland\, Bieszczady are known for their untamed character\, raw and often brutal history\, and unique flora and fauna not found in other Polish mountain ranges. They are also the only mountains in Poland that belong to the Eastern Carpathians\, just like the Ukrainian Chornohora or Polonina Rivna. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a weekend filled with mountain adventures\, breathtaking views of golden połoniny 🍂\, a ride on the iconic Bieszczadzka Forest Railway 🚂\, and evenings spent by the campfire 🔥 under one of the darkest skies in Poland ✨.
