All those who are keen on developing and leading EGEA are wholeheartedly invited to apply for Committee Representatives 2019/2020! Please send your applications to the respective Committee until August 15th, 2019, 23:59 CEST! Do not publish it in any way and please read this post carefully since it contains important information.

 

According to Appendix D of the Protocol, the following Committee Representatives exists:

2 representatives for: 

  • Fundraising Committee (FundCom)
  • Activity and Events Committee (ActCom)
  • EGEA Green
  • Scientific Committee (SciComm)
  • Communication and Media Committee (CMC)
  • Training Committee (TC)
  • Regional Support Committee (RSC)

3 Chief Editors for:

  •  European Geographer (EG)

Why should you apply?

  • Brush up your CV
  • Gain insight into the administrative structures of an international youth organisation
  • Shape the future of EGEA
  • Improve your leadership skills
  • Represent your committee at the Annual Congress and OSM
  • Gain experience in project management
  • Improve your English
  • Keep in touch with EGEA throughout the whole year and get to know new people

 

General duties of all representatives

  • Active communication with the Board of EGEA, especially the Vice-President 
  • Active communication with committee members & keeping them motivated
  • Organisation of e-meetings and live-meeting(s)
  • Keeping a good overview and driving the progress of different projects
  • Willing to learn

 

Committee specific duties and useful skills

 

  • Activities and Events Committee (ActCom)
    • Experience with event organisation 
    • Eager to develop your relationship with Excel or Google Sheets 
  • Communication and Media Committee (CMC)
    • Creativity and ideas are a big advantage 
    • Graphical/designing basics (poster/graphic making tools or SW such as canva or Inkscape) are very helpful (but not necessary)
    • But don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of knowledge in design or media, you have the committee to help you gain it!
  • EGEA Green
    • Being enthusiastic and passionate about environmental and social issues, so that you are eager to make sustainable practises the new normal within EGEA
    • It is great if you have already gained some experience in the environmental field, in climate action or in project management, but if not, it is either. What counts is your green motivation and your willingness to get active!
  • European Geographer (EG)
    • Willing to (learn how to) proofread
    • Having a general interest in scientific journalism
    • It wouldn’t hurt if you had experience in layout, editing or PR, but it is not required, as long as you are willing to learn.
  • Fundraising Committee (FundCom)
    • Experience with fundraising is a benefit, but not a necessity. 
    • Don’t be afraid to get in contact with companies and associations. 
  • Regional Support Committee (RSC)
    • It would be awesome for the future representatives to be very open when it comes to communication and approaching of people.
    • Also, eagerness in communication in all kinds of ways, be it face to face, email or online messengers is important for this role: 
  • Scientific Committee (SciComm)
    • Eager to communicate and help scientific event organisers
    • Ready to implement new ways of bringing science to the everyday life of EGEAns
  • Training Committee (TC)
    • Being enthusiastic about non-formal learning, trainings and soft-skills
    • Facilitating the organisation of training events
    • You don’t have to be an EGEA Trainer yourself! 

 

 

Your application should include: 

  • Motivation
  • Relevant experience
  • EGEA experience
  • Ideas for the future development of the committee
  • Time availability

 

What happens after the application period?

 

You will receive an answer from representatives of the committee you have applied for. After the end of the open call, the voting procedure will start. There will be one week for each committee to vote. You will be informed as soon as the decision will be made and transition will start.
