If you love nature and hiking, NBRC has a great suggestion to explore one of the most beautiful landscapes in Lithuania – Neris Regional Park.🌲
The Neris Regional Park is, first and foremost, the Neris River with its picturesque environs, small villages and layers of history of old Lithuania. The Park has been founded in the most beautiful section of the Neris River seeking to preserve the distinctive landscape of the river valley, the original fauna and flora, a unique system of loops of the middle reaches of the Neris River and natural tributaries, as well as the cultural heritage.
Excursion No. 3
Visaginas is the centre of Lithuania’s youngest municipality, located on the north-eastern edge of the country. It was built as a town for workers engaged in the construction of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. Visaginas town was planned by the “8 minute principle”, i.e. the very heart of the town – the square by the catholic church can be reached from any place in the town in 8 – 10 minutes. It’s a common example of Soviet urbanism.
